I took my first yoga class in college in the early 2000’s and all I can remember about it is that I always fell asleep in savasana, the resting post at the end of every class. An workout that ended with a nap sounded pretty good to me! Over the next few years I flirted off and on with yoga until it became an integral part of my life and recovery after the death of my mother. The first time someone suggested I could be a teacher myself, I laughed and said no way. Good thing the Divine has a sense of humor too, because in 2011 I became certified through Namah Shivaya’s teacher training program and now I serve as the lead trainer for our weekday program. What I love most about yoga is its diversity. There is a yoga style, class, or teacher for everyone. I teach active physically challenging classes like ashtanga and all levels flow, relaxing and accessible options like restorative and gentle, as well as a weekly yoga class just for kids! Yoga has given me so many gifts, from physical health to mental peace to spiritual awakening, and I would love to share the gifts of yoga with you as well. Wendy Loven

I started practicing yoga in 2003 in order to help my body recover from a back injury. I soon discovered that yoga was good for so much more than healing back pain, it helped in all areas of my life, from reducing stress to building strength. In 2013, I completed the 200 hour training at Namah Shivaya and in 2015, I completed the 300 hour training. I love introducing new students to the benefits of yoga and showing them the myriad of ways that yoga can be used to improve every aspect of your life!

Kristi FitzGerald

Howdy! I want you in my class. Yoga immeasurably enhanced my life and I have a passion for sharing everything I’ve learned.
The first time I took a yoga class (back in 1995), I hated it. I didn’t try a yoga class again until 2010. What motivated me? Vanity. My face broke out in what I’d later learn was a severe allergic reaction. It was so intense, my skin had the appearance of a scathing burn. I didn’t want to be seen, so I almost entirely quit leaving the privacy of my home. I needed to stay active, so I started taking yoga because the room had dim lighting. The benefits to my body were astonishing and my mind was positively transformed. I was hooked!
I was compelled to start teaching so I could help others with their journey to realizing their highest potential. Amongst many other things, I’ve learned that external beauty is only skin deep, but the light that shines within all of us is truly breathtaking.

This intro to meditation class will lay the foundation of a successful meditation practice, including breath work, concentration, and deep relaxation. Classes will vary in mediation styles allowing all participants, including beginners, to learn a variety of tools to establish a practice. An introduction to hand mudras (gestures), chakras (energy centers), and mantras (energetic statements) will be explained and introduced should you choose to practice them. Dress comfortably.
